Starting from her garage in 1996, Chan Luu has spent nearly 30 years building her brand of hand-carfted jewellery, accessories, and apparel. She has championed artisan craftsmanship, supported fair labor practices, and her efforts have even been recognized by the United Nations.

The Challenge

In 2022, Chan Luu experienced a 20% drop in orders and a 25% drop in revenue.  Compounding this was a critical stockout of best-selling products, lasting nearly three months from November 2022 to February 2023. This not only caused lost sales and disruption to marketing campaigns, but also reflected a deeper disconnect between marketing and inventory

Conative AI provided predictive product analytics Chan Luu’s team used to develop a new strategy based on product performance. 

By leveraging real-time insights into their entire catalogue - not just stock and sales levels, but also conversion rate, ad spend, views, and website placement at the product and variant levels - both teams could align on which products to stock and promote, improving cash flow while improving revenue.

This allowed Chan Luu to:

  • Validate Marketing + Merchandising Choices: When promoting a Collection via email or social, close monitoring in Conative allowed Chan Luu to adjust the product mix based on performance or price point, helping to boost AOV by 12%.
  • Maximize Top-Performers: Easily Identifying and tracking best-selling products ensured they were prioritized for restocking and promotion in across channels, helping to solve chronic understock problems
  • Strategic Planning for BFCM: Using Conative's AI demand projections, Chan Luu made an additional inventory purchase to cover post-BFCM, supporting a more aggressive and effective marketing after the season, generating a 44% jump in revenue in Q1 2024
  • Performance-Led Design: Marketing also frequently shared product performance with the design team, influencing new styles and variants inspired by customer engagement.
